Kling Innovation Grant Application
Kling Grants Overview | Application | FY25 Grants | FY24 Grants | FY23 Grants
Kling Innovation Grants are awarded to internal teams to test or launch new entrepreneurial projects within APMG, supporting our mission to create the future of public media by amplifying voices to inform, include, and inspire.
What constitutes an entrepreneurial project?
It’s a creative and bold idea that connects to APMG’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan.
It has a sustainable business model (the potential to generate revenue to pay for itself in the future and/or provide incremental revenue to the organization.)
It leverages APMG content, audiences, technology, reputation, facilities, business relationships, and/or a significant new effort with an external partner.
Consider these important questions as you draft your proposal:
Is there a demand? What unmet audience/customer need will this project address?
Why us? What makes APMG uniquely positioned to deliver on this unmet need?
Is it financially sustainable? Have you identified sources of revenue to sustain and grow the project in the future?
Proposal Details:
Internal teams can request “try-it” grants of $10,000 - $25,000 that must be spent within six months of the award.
Each pitch will need an identified project leader(s) and a project champion (e.g., a team leader, division leader, executive leader.)
Each pitch will need buy-in from all impacted APMG divisions/departments. Please do not apply if you don’t have the support of everyone who will be involved in implementing the project.
Grant funds can be used for most non-staff project-related expenses, including production materials, equipment, content acquisition, consultants, and contractors.
Grants are not intended to cover current staff expenses or to fund new full or part-time staff positions.
We will not fund previous Kling Innovation projects unless there is a compelling opportunity to scale the idea.
There is no match requirement.
Do you have questions about the grant process or ideas you want to discuss? Don't hesitate to contact the head of your team/division or Jeff Freeland Nelson at Glen Nelson Center.
